Letters of Recommendation

Letters of Recommendation

ALWAYS ask a teacher if he/she will be willing to write you a letter BEFORE you submit their name to an on-line institution or summer camp.

Please note if there is a specific area of interest you are applying for.

Give the letter writer enough time to write you a good letter.

Writing a letter of recommendation requires input from you.  I spend a good amount of time on each letter—trying to be as specific as possible.  In order to do that, I need you to answer the following questions before I write your letter.

  • ·      What classes have you taken with me and when?
  • ·      What specific activities or units did we work on in class that really resonated with you?  Give an example.
  • ·      What did you take to Ohlone Festival?  List in chronological order.  Describe your part in finding/directing/creating the piece.  List any awards/finalist
  • ·      What shows have you done with me and what was your part?   List in chronological order.
    Cast?  Specific Role.
    Crew?  Specific role.
  • ·      What do you plan to major in in college?
